Is your film not getting sold? Here are some inputs for you.

   Almost 200-300 movies are for sale in each filmmaking state. A huge number of movies are in a stagnant position. One thing I see as common with these filmmakers is "They want to sell the film to anyone/anybody/company for a small profit margin or at the same production cost." They say their films will not do well in theatres. It may run for a week max. So, they don't want to invest in publicity, marketing, and cube expenses. Which can create more loss for them. If they aren't confident in their product, who will buy and invest in it? Why should someone test the content and accept the loss if the producer isn't ready for it? If the filmmakers aren't confident in their script, they shouldn't have attempted to make a film to show their presence.

In recent times, we have seen films with good content value and no face value have done better at the box office. This is because of word of mouth and publicity. Audiences should find a takeaway to come to theatres and watch the movie. Obviously, for big heroes, there is no need for crowd-pulling. But for new artists and technicians, you need to boost the content with publicity and marketing.

Here are some insights for the filmmakers to sell their films that aren't getting sold for a long time;

The first step is to identify a Film Analyst and showcase your film to him/her. Based on their input, do one or more changes as given below.

Re-edit the film - Because the change in the point of view and storytelling can bring in a new flavor to the film. Many times, a good story has a bad narrative style. Just because of a sloppy editing pattern, you shouldn't get ignored in the market.

Re-Shoot some scenes/songs - There may be some logical mistakes, continuity errors, and loopholes in the story. Re-Shooting some scenes can place your content with real meaning. Good songs may have mediocre visuals.

Find the lag - Identify the scenes/sequence that create a monotonous feel, a lag, pulls down the story flow. Don't show mercy for these scenes. Chop down even if it hurts you. Kill the dryness by adding new and interesting scenes.

Identify and Highlight the goal - Tell the audience whom or what to be followed in your film. Giving more importance to all the characters can dilute the goal of the film. In this case, Re-Editing and Re-Shooting can help you to fix this issue.

Inclusion of a Character - Your story mayn't have a powerful character to watch. Bring in a new character, write powerful scenes for the character and add them to your film. Many times, good content needed the guest appearance of the artist in a powerful role. This will help in selling the product with value.

Replace the technician - There are real-time scenarios of technicians getting changed even after the completion of the movie. Songs and Music is the first attractive point for the audience to remember. They are one of the prime crowd-pulling factors. The films that have less content value but excellent songs did well at the box office.

Many producers go bankrupt after the completion of the post-production of the film. They are not aware of two important facts.

1. Strong Script Work - Filmmakers spend less amount of money on script work. There is a lethargic attitude toward framing a strong script. Assembling a few writers in the team for a story discussion will not help in constructing a better script. Script Writers are paid and treated badly.

2. Publicity and Marketing - This is another area producers tend to miss out on. Good contents need good backup. It requires a proper date of release and accessible theatres. People should know the date and place of the film release.

On completion of the above-mentioned aspects, find the promoter for your film. Find big distributors and banners who can promote your film across the region/state. Many small-budget movies have joined hands with big names to get benefited. For example, the Tamil movie "Vazh" required Sivakarthikeyan's banner. "Gargi" needed Actor Surya's 2D Entertainment. In this way, filmmakers can get more theatres, and good sales at satellite/OTT/digital, and overseas rights,
