In continuation of my previous article -(http://www.saivijendhiran.com/2023/07/what-film-producer-really-wants-tips.html), I would like to add a few more points. I hope this will be of your use.
Just because someone has rejected your film script, it doesn't mean that you don't fit the bill. There are several reasons why film scripts are getting rejected at the producer/production company level. Instead of changing our approach, we blame them for our mistakes. Not all the time, film producers are wrong. Most of the time, we assume/believe rumors spread by our industry colleagues.
1. Always submit your film script in a good format. The alignment of the script is of the most importance.
2. Make it readable. Since it is our story, we are aware of the contents. But for the third person, they should know what to look for in the document.
3. Present it with some visuals like characters, events, etc. Reading text alone can be tiresome for certain types of people.
4. Due to the volume of script submissions, some people read only the first 10-15 pages and decide to proceed further. If you can't impress them with your writing, then your opportunity is gone.
5. Most of the time, the conflict of the story is new and strong but poor writing lets it down. Bad screenplays for a good storyline are of no use.
6. Good storyline and artificial characterization, and events need to be avoided.
7. Before submitting your script, make sure that the production company is serious about making films and inviting new scripts.
8. There can be a few layers of people who may scrutinize your script and then pass it on to the producer for final review. Not all the scripts reach the producer directly.
9. You can try submitting your rejected script after 6 months or 1 year to the same production company. As the trends changes, the view of the producer can also change. The same rejected story can get a life when the industry trend changes.
10. You need to be aware that there could be hundreds of submissions every month. In order to have attention, your script needs to be stand-alone and create attention.
